COLOR ME PSYCHO (Canada)

Kiss Me, Then ... Color Me Psycho
w/ Pretend I'm Your Father
-CS
1986 (Old Shep)

Re-Up!

"Trash. There I said it. It’s one of the essential ingredients in Horror punk. Trash, like the New York Dolls sang about, Trash in the way the Cramps would shout it, and Trash in that overdriven attitude of teen energy that all us old bastards only wish we could recapture. I have news for you kids, youth is wasted on the young. Speaking of young trash, one Alistair Hexx, before he changed his name to Jackson Phibes was a purveyor of near perfect trash when he fronted the band Color Me Psycho, which last I heard he liked to call Color Me Sucko. Calgary Canada’s great fuzz and organ driven garage rock revivalist who while never overtly horror playing the Psychotronic playground of genre fair, bashing out tunes about sex, and weird gods, deadly cars and fear." - Iren

"Since starting out in the primordial-ooze of the Calgary-based garbagy/garagy Color Me Psycho, entertainer Jackson Phibes has been dishing out macabre-tinged rockin' slop to disbelieving audiences for over 13 years. CMP managed to stay together for 3 years of tyranny and stagnation, releasing a few tapes and one full-length piece o' vinyl (the now collector's item "Pretend I'm your Father" album).

Immediately following the demise of his first ill-fated stab at the small-time, Phibes (who was still toiling under the dubious nom de axe, Aleister Hexxx) set about initiating a head-long dive into the horror-rock ghettos with the Forbidden Dimension." - Sidetrack Cafe

Well done! My tape of a friend's copy of KMTCMP ( I failed to pick it up right away in '86 and never saw another copy ) is wearing out so this very appreciated. Luckily I have a couple copies of PIYF on vinyl but it's nice to have a digital version. Now all you're missing is all the CMP compilation tracks ( Writing on Stone, Calgary Comp. and the two It Came From Canadas ) and you'll have the complete CMP discography covered!
Apparantly Lance Rock Records is working on finally releasing KMTCMP on cd. I'll be first in line to pick it up when the Jack does.
Once again please keep up the great posts!

Good lord, I used to play this tape on my radio show at CJSR in Edmonton in '86. They put out a great LP after this that I wish I still had. Speaking of Edmonton, might you have in your archives the Rock'N'Roll Bitches 7" Wild Wild West (I belive that was the title)? I second the call for the Writing on Stone comp. Some lost classics on there.

I have loved these tracks for years but lost my vinyl and would love to be able to download them. When I try to extract the files though, it asks me for a password. Any ideas? I can't seem to get the files with out it. Please help!

first off... It's great to get this after all this time, I have only heard the PIYF stuff so far.... also FYI a chunk of that early FD tape stuff is included on the Coffinful of Crows cd (which you can get though CDbaby if you don't have it yet)..
